LETTER FROM THE EHS PRESIDENT
Dear Member of EHS, dear Colleague,
In the middle of my Presidency for our Society I would like to bring you up to date on what has been happening.
First of all welcome to the new members coming from the different countries that are now part of the EHS. Other submitted applications are waiting to be evaluated. I hope you will actively promote the activities of our society and provide a scientific contribution to our meetings.
The Ex-Com, Sci-Com and Website Com of our society have been doing a great job.
Our Secretary, Mrs Samantha Stokes, located in Thessaloniki, can be contacted for every need regarding the Society (e-mail address: firstname.lastname@example.org).
The updated website of EHS is active (www.european-hip-society.org) where you can find updated news regarding the Society’s activities, future events and useful links. You can also see and listen to all speeches from the last EHS congress.
Together with other EHS colleagues, this last year I have been visiting many national orthopedic societies for holding lectures and promoting EHS.
At the last EFORT congress in Istanbul we hold an appreciated half day “Advanced Instructional Course in Total Hip Replacement”.
We have a growing cooperation with EFORT in the fields of congresses, courses and education.
EHS-EFORT Instructional Course on “Hip pathology in young adults” in Madrid (5-7 March 2014).
During the next EFORT meeting in London (4-6 June 2014) our Society will - together with the Russian and British Hip Societies - organise a special session on “Correction osteotomies of the hip in DDH and THA”. We will also again organize half a “Current Concept day” named “Advanced Instructional Course in Total Hip Replacement”. Our third symposia will be “Modular Implants In Revision Total Hip Arthroplasty”.
The main event this year will be, of course, our EHS meeting in Stockholm. It will be held at the Stockholm Waterfront Congress Centre from 9-11 October, 2014. Abstracts submission is open on the Congress website (www.ehs2014.org). All of you are invited to submit abstracts both for oral presentation and for e-poster. The contribution of each member is essential for a high quality scientific programme. The deadline is 31 March 2014. The two best presentations in “Scientific contents” and “Innovation”, after due evaluation by the Scientific Committee, will receive an award granted by Hip International respectively of 1.500 € and 1.000 €. The awarded abstracts will be published as full original article/review in a forthcoming issue of Hip International. All selected abstracts will be included in a regular issue of Hip International available at the Congress.
Future activities, particularly in the field of education, will be promoted by EHS and you will be informed of these. Every suggestion and contribution from the members is very welcome.
President European hip Society.
